Southwell Boys Brigade started the new session with an exhibition in the local museum and we are grateful to the people of Southwell for their support.
The band played for the opening ceremony performed by our new Methodist Minister Rev. G Middlemist and were again on duty in the afternoon at the Sports Centre Garden Fete.
Our annual Flag Day was a success in that £124 was raised for the work of the Brigade in the Nottingham area.
The 4th October saw the 100th birthday of the Brigade and was celebrated by a thanksgiving service in the Methodist Church. In this way we jined with our fellow companies all over the world as we thanked God for the last 100 years and prayed for guidance in the years ahead.
We extend our congratulations to gSt David Balmer who successfully completed the Robin Hood marathon. David had only run 14 miles hitherto and thus did very well to complete the 26 miles. In so doing he raised 360 for the Boys Brigade and Lifeboat fund.
