Cathedral Refectory and Shop re-opens

News April 17, 2014

Just in time for the better weather, the refurbished Cathedral Shop and Refectory will re-open to the public on Saturday 26th April.

There will be an official opening ceremony on Friday 25th at 7pm with the Dean, the Very Revd John Guille, who will unveil a plaque to commemorate the event.

He says: “I feel very privileged to have been invited to unveil the plaque, and to acknowledge the generosity of the late Peggy Cooper, who made the refurbishment possible. She was a primary school headmistress in the diocese and a regular worshipper at the Minster. A lady who was full of fun and appreciated the hospitality offered through the cathedral in this way.”

The Cathedral Shop and Refectory will re-open at 9.30am on the Saturday, having been housed in temporary premises across the road in the Nat West Bank building whilst the work was undertaken.

“Following a major refurbishment the shop will have new stock, and customers will receive a free gift on the opening weekend. There will also be a prize draw for a hamper of goodies,” says Shop Manager, Alison Baker.

“The Refectory has a fresh menu and customers can enjoy great food on the newly created patio overlooking the wonderful Southwell Minster. We are very excited as the place is totally different and looks very classy!” says Alison.
