Calling all Budding Photographers!

It’s the centenary of Lions clubs worldwide this year and Southwell Lions photo competition marks the occasion, with the theme of ‘anything & everything old’.

It only costs £5 to enter and ¾ of the entry money will be set aside as cash prizes for the three winning entries. So the more entries the bigger the prize! The remainder will be used for charitable work in the community.

There are three age categories: 1) Children (12 and under) 2) Teenagers (13-17) and 3) Adults (18+).

Entries can be submitted at any time before the closing date of 30th April via the dedicated website : www.southwell-lions.weebly.com. A perfect activity for the Easter holidays! So what are you waiting for? Get snapping and have a go!

With Easter in mind, a number of the local pubs in Southwell and surrounding villages have again taken some of the Lions’ Giant Easter Eggs to raffle off. There is still time to take a small wager on winning one for Easter! There will be an extra chance to win a Giant Easter Egg or one of the small eggs at the Lions’ stall on the Market Square in Southwell on Saturday 15th April. We’ll be pleased to see you on the Saturday morning in Southwell. As always, the net proceeds will go to the Southwell Lions charity account to help others in our community.

And don’t miss out on the Lions’ annual Spring Quiz at the Minster School on Friday 12th May, an exciting event for this centenary year. Enjoy fathoming the answers to all the questions, as well as the ploughman’s platter and fruit pies at the interval. There will be a licenced bar from the door opening at 7.00 pm to put you in the mood for the start at 7.45 pm. Teams of up to six will be eligible for the winner’s prize and trophy.

Tickets are £8 in advance for this event which you can buy from Paul Wilkinson on 01636 812219 or via email paul.wilkinson53@talktalk.net or via our club email lionsouthwell@gmail.com
