The Major Oak Chorus is a men’s choir around 40 strong, singing four part a-capella in the Barbershop style.
We rehearse and sing together every Tuesday evening in Carlton, this side of Nottingham, and sing out at every opportunity as the full chorus, in smaller groups, or as quartets. We compete in national competitions and are ranked around 10th in the country. Most of us can’t read music, all teaching materials are provided. We range in age from 19 to 90, and several of our members are from Southwell – lifts can be arranged. We aim to make singing fun, we are well known for making new members welcome. Some of you will have seen us in Southwell Minster at the Carols For Everyone concerts in recent years. We can sing at your event as a quartet or a larger group – no charge for charity fundraisers.
