Southwell U3A

Southwell U3A

The U3A is non-religious and non-political, promoting lifelong learning and providing social interaction. Most of our members are retired but the only qualification to join is that members should not be in full time employment.

We started in 2006 and by early 2020 we had over 800 members, most living in or near Southwell. Now with around 80 interest groups we offer lots of opportunities to learn new things, hear interesting talks, visit places and engage in social activities. So if you want to improve your French or computer skills, learn about astronomy, photography, local history or geology, share experience of gardening or woodworking, go bird watching or walking, play games, listen to or play music, cook, draw, quiz or discuss – there’s something for everyone and you can find out more at www.southwellu3a.com.

Note that as of Summer 2020, despite Covid-19, the U3A is still operating, keeping in touch with members through online activities, video meetings, “virtual trips”, quizzes, etc. However we expect some outdoor groups will meet again later in the year and whenever we get back to normal we will meet at the Leisure Centre, 10.00 -12.00, on the first Tuesday each month.
