Southwell Torpedos was founded in March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 crisis, to deliver prescriptions, food and other essentials to vulnerable people in the area.
It is now established as a community support group with an appropriate constitution and managing committee – and an amazing group of over 100 volunteers. It works with Southwell Town Council and Southwell Live-At-Home Scheme.
Although originally focused on needs created by the pandemic, they continue to provide assistance to those who need it and are working to put in place a permanent local support network.
Torpedos is an anagram of ‘doorstep’ which is where they provide help.
