Black Cat waiting for a ‘Magic’ Home

It’s said that ‘Black cats are lucky’ – but not so for many who find themselves unwanted, waiting longer for homes than lighter-coloured cats – like Billy; waiting a year for someone to ‘magic’ up a home for him.

Found by local charity, Animal Accident Rescue Unit, Billy was in a poor state with a painful abscess on his head. The charity arranged and funded to remove the abscess, which healed completely. Temporarily housed with one of the charity’s volunteers, Billy has since shown his true colours as his fosterer explains: ‘Billy’s extremely loving, enjoys fuss and follows me everywhere. He’s playful, and great living with other cats.’

As with all the charity’s cats, Billy has been blood-tested by a vet for FIV/FeLV (he tested negative), flea and worm treated, neutered plus micro-chipped and litter-trained. New owners are advised to vaccinate their adopted cats, as the charity’s limited funds do not stretch to this protection.

Potential adoptions require a successful homecheck, with no rehoming near busy roads except for indoor-only cats. With no base, Animal Accident Rescue Unit also constantly needs cat, and some dog, fosterers.
