Behind the Scenes at Minster Dental Centre

This month we take a look at two of the dentists at the Minster Dental Centre.

Dr Catherine Dewsnap BDS (Hons)

After qualifying in Newcastle in 1992 Catherine came to the Nottingham area to work, with her first job in the Sawley area. She has worked at several practices, initially mainly NHS, but moved over to private practice some time ago, joining the Minster Dental Team in 2015. Since then she has settled in really well with all of the team, promoting the ethos of quality and preventative dental care in a calm environment.
Catherine believes in providing the best care she can in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and offers a wide range of treatments based on years of experience in private practice. She enjoys most aspects of her work and in particular endodontics (root canal work) which often comes with the challenges of having to restore heavily broken down teeth which she finds particularly rewarding.
Catherine firmly believes that before embarking on any treatment options the thoughts and opinions of patients must be discussed, together with an understanding of the benefits and risks of the various options to enable the best possible outcomes. Catherine and her family have lived in Southwell for over 15 years. Both her children have attended the local schools, with her eldest son now at university. She is often seen around the town walking her black Labrador or even attending her allotment… weather permitting!

Dr Helen Reddington BDS

Helen qualified from Newcastle University in 2009. After working in NHS and Private practices in Newcastle and London she eventually settled back into general practice in her hometown of Nottingham. Helen regularly attends courses to keep up to date with the latest techniques. She recently completed an advanced course in Aesthetic and restorative dentistry at the Eastman Institute, improving her skills in more popular areas of dentistry such as tooth whitening, cosmetic smile design and rapid orthodontic systems. Helen is qualified to carry out Invisalign, an orthodontic system involving a series of clear aligners used to straighten teeth. Helen is also a facial aesthetics practitioner and is competent in the use of Botox for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. In her spare time Helen enjoys keeping fit and running and is partaking in the Nottingham Half Marathon in September.
