Ball Girls for Continental Cup

Southwell City Football Club Under 13 girls were recently privileged to be the ball girls for Notts County Ladies’ first Continental Cup fixture against Aston Villa Ladies at Meadow Lane.

The home crowd of over 800 were treated to an excellent 5-0 victory for Notts County with 2 goals apiece from England internationals Jess Clarke and Dunia Susi, with Caitlin Friend completing the scoring.

Having won their league this season, the match gave the Southwell City girls invaluable experience of watching top level women’s football at such close quarters and Southwell midfielder Amy Bruce said of the evening ” I really enjoyed the evening – it was a great experience to watch the ladies play, and we all got to throw the ball in to the players.”

Southwell City is an inclusive football club that welcomes girls and boys of all ages from 7 upwards. The u13s are current Year 8 girls, who train on Thursday evenings, and play matches in the Notts Girls and Ladies League.
