What more can we say “So pleased I chose the Southwell Swine as part of my training regime for Nottingham half marathon. Hardest run I’ve ever done but so enjoyed everything about it. Well organised, well marked out, brilliantly marshalled, great atmosphere and great food?”
Praise in deed for the second Southwell Swine which took place on the 24th August. Mark my words this could put Southwell on the running map of the UK.
95 runners ran the 10 mile race and 66 ran the 5 mile race. The sun shone and we did not lose anyone. The marshals and helpers did a sterling job. The race was organised superbly by the subcommittee; George Pass, Vance & Bev Owen, Jim Semmelroth, Chris Wales, Paul Orton, Bruce Danby and Phil Sturgeon.
Seven SRC runners completed the 10 mile course, Steven Rice was first home and Dave Moore came out of running retirement. 5 runners completed the 5 mile course. Chibeka Kasonde and Peter Hunt reappeared after time away from the club.
SRC did very well in the Summer League with Molly Campbell getting gold for 1st under 20 runner. Paul Grogan got silver and Nigel Watkin bronze for over 50’s.
Chris and Paul Cregg are great supporters of the park runs and were very successful at Southend with both coming first in their age group. At least they can now stop travelling the length and breadth of the country to find the place where everyone is slower than them (only kidding) www.southwellrunningclub.org.uk
