THE bunting is up, the flags are flying high, red white and blue is everywhere you look and the yarn bombers have been casting their magic on our streets – Southwell and surrounding villages are looking magnificent dressed in their regalia to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6th May.
Southwell Minster will be throwing an indoor street party. The Coronation service itself will be live streamed on a big screen inside the Minster from 11am, and the festivities will start immediately following the broadcast, at approximately 12.30pm and go on until 4pm.
The Lowe’s Wong Infants Maypole and Country Dance Team will be involved in the celebrations, and, accompanied by musicians from the Minster School Ceilidh Band, will perform a lively and colourful mix of traditional maypole and country dances. There will also be live music from the Carlton Brass Band.
Refreshments will be available and you are invited to bring your own picnics plus the Southwell Lions will be running a few games and stalls. This community event is run in conjunction with Southwell Town Council. All welcome. www.southwellminster.org/events/event/ kings-coronation
