A small group from Southwell Young Farmers walked the length of Nottinghamshire across three days in August to help raise valuable funds to support More Tomorrows for Mito, a campaign helping fund urgent gene therapy research for families living with RRM2B mitochondrial disease.
Josh, Dan, Jack and I completed the 73 miles covering every terrain.
We came out battered and bruised, but it was rewarding and an honour to take on this challenge for JoJo and Rachael.

On day one we completed 30 miles from Misson to the Dovecote Inn at Laxton. We started strong down the canal and were fuelled mid-afternoon by much-needed ice creams.
Day two took us 27 miles from Laxton to Nottingham Camping and Caravanning Club in Cotgrave, via Epperstone to see JoJo and Rachael. JoJo even joined us for a short stint through the village.
On day three, we completed the final 16 miles from Cotgrave to Stanford on Soar, joined by Harvey and Gem. Harvey went to primary school with JoJo and me, so it was great seeing old friends come together for such a great cause.
I am immensely proud of the whole team for such an achievement and couldn’t have done it without them. From a pipe dream I had in a pub, to a group of friends pulling together and pushing themselves to the limit without question. I honestly can’t thank everyone enough – all those involved and all those who have donated.
We have now raised over £6000, which is phenomenal, but only a small percentage of the total £450,000 required for the life-changing gene-therapy treatment Rachael and JoJo badly need.
Please continue to donate what you can if you haven’t already. Go to www.justgiving.com and search for ‘Help me create More Tomorrows’.
Together we can help create more tomorrows for Rachael and JoJo.
